Terms of Engagement

Last updated — July 2026

These are the terms every project runs on. They say the same things the pricing page and FAQ say — written down properly, so there are no surprises on either side.

Who you're dealing with

George Barnes, trading as Geo Studio, based in Essex, England. Work is currently offered to UK clients only.

Scope

The signed written brief defines the project. What’s in the brief is what gets built; anything outside it is quoted separately, in writing, before any extra work starts — never as a retainer or a surprise invoice.

Starter and Growth packages include what the pricing page lists at the time you book.

Payment

50% on the signed brief, 50% on launch. Both invoices are payable within 14 days, by bank transfer or Stripe. No project starts until the first invoice clears.

Prices exclude VAT.

Timelines

Two weeks for a Starter site, four for a Growth site — assuming content arrives on time. Late content moves the launch date, not the price.

Ownership and handover

Everything is set up in your name from day one: the domain, the hosting and service accounts, and the Git repository. On receipt of the final payment, all remaining access transfers to you and the work is yours outright.

Until the final payment clears, the work remains Geo Studio’s.

Portfolio rights

Geo Studio may show the finished work as a case study — on this site and in proposals — unless we agree otherwise in the brief.

Post-launch support

Thirty days of support on a Starter site, sixty on a Growth site, covering fixes for anything that doesn’t work as the brief described. New features and changes of mind are quoted separately, like any other add-on.

Third-party services

Hosting, domain registration, CMS and email providers are third-party services with their own terms and pricing. The accounts are yours, and any fees they charge are yours — most projects run entirely on free tiers, and I’ll tell you before recommending anything that doesn’t.

Liability

If something goes wrong that’s down to me, my liability is capped at the fees you paid for the project. I’m not liable for loss of profit or other indirect losses.

Nothing here limits any liability that can’t legally be limited.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any disputes go to the courts of England and Wales.
